Due to a lack of up front funds this project for now will be put aside so I can gather the tools I will need for automotive classes in college, though I will still gather what parts I can. I was also wondering what kind of (Free) sources on engine re/building are recommended that I should check out.
The class I will be taking is for the mechanical and engine side of vehicles so I will learn more about such things during that class, but it would be nice to start reading up on it [engine re/building].
Dismantling stage is finished so now it's the learn and save up stage!
Curious, would converting the engine to a 400 change the MPGs much?
not real concerned about mpg since its a truck, but I will be driving it
On a sidenote I got the dizzy out, but only by beating it out from the bottom, upper housing go cracked at the base but if it were reassembled it probably would still work ok, I'm going to get a new one anyways.

I didn't notice any difference in mpg when I upgraded the 351M to a 400. 10mpg pretty much all the time..up hill... down hill...no hill....in town, outta town. Hehe.no change. Also would like to add that no...the 400 I rebuilt wasn't stock. Was running a Comp Cam 268, Edelbrock intake with a Carter 625 and dual exhaust breathing through some cheap Summit Racing turbo mufflers. I kept it tuned up with oil changes every 5k, Autolight plugs and a cool looking set of Taylor spark plug wires. Was my daily driver for quite awhile.
