Part ID help
Hi guys,
There is a part I need help ID'ing. I have an '89 bronco with a 351 and c-6 tranny. There is a part that sits to the left of the motor, sort of behind the alternator. It is about the size and shape of a 35mm film canister. It is brass in color. It has a T at the top with vacuum lines running in and out, and an electrical connection at the bottom of it. Thing is, the wire that connects to the bottom looks like it was melted in two. Is this a fusable link, or did it just get too close to the exhaust manifold? What is the part? There are numbers on it, and a part number finder did no good. THe numbers are: E5TF-9C915-AA and under that there is K258B.
Would this part affect idle? My truck idles a bit rough, but at speed it seems smooth as glass.
Thanks for any help.

Sounds good 90. The thing jsut sorta hangs there from the hoses, down behind the alternator. Not sure if that is really where it belongs, but that's where it is on my rig.
I suppose I should just repair the wire somehow and see if it runs better. I mean, it must do something lol. Just splice and solder in a piece of new wire and put some heat shrink on it?

Update:
The vacuum lines leading to and from this part lead from the front of the air intake for the throttle body, a little port right where the two large intake hoses attach at the front, then to the part I describe, then from there it goes to a black box thing, right next to and below the battery. (charcole canister??). So, it must be an on/off switch for vacuum or something. Any thoughts? It looks like the wire may be fried a bit too close to the connecter to repair. I may need to find a new connecter with more wire attached.

Purge Solenoid
Its a Purge Solenoid.
I just bought the same part (an hour ago) for my '96 Ford Escort, along with a EVAP Purge Sensor (F57Z-14A606-BA), in hopes that is will make my check engine light go away. I was getting code P1443.
