E4od overdrive and reverse gone and came back

Hey yall hadnt been on in a while. The truck im working on is a 1996 f250 4x4 5.8L 351w. Reverse started having trouble catching. Then one day is was just gone. Overdrive also. Then miraculously OD came back for one trip? Im just trying to see if there is any possibility that the clutches arent gone? Any other problems it might be?

It is possible that the feedbolts have loosened. You can check these by dropping the pan and the main valve body. If the feedbolts are tight, the direct clutch has a problem.

thanks man ill check that out. I accidentally posted this from the backup account i use here. Couple details i left out 1st through 3rd is all hard shifts now and the transmission also drops to 2nd gear when i turn OD off.
