This should be an easy question for Y'all, I think...
Is there a way to reverse the switch on dash for the E4OD so
that it defaults to no overdrive when I start the truck, and
goes into overdrive when I push it the first time (so that I have
to tell it to go into OD)?
My truck is a 1991 Ford Centurion... basically an F350 crew cab
with 7.5L (460) and 4X4.
I do a lot of driving around town, and the Overdrive is an annoyance,
especially with large tires. I also don't like low RPMS in snow.
there is an article in the tech section about
dura trans programmer that will change the on and off of the OD
timing. I have been unable to locate anyone selling
it but it sounds like a godsend for those of us that
do 95% of our truck driving around town
I had an idea (and it didn't even hurt) to try a different Google search...
I searched for E4OD switch inverter and got much better results than
before (w/ E4OD overdrive switch reverse):
The first one is $189... sounds like a lot for what is probably a very simple device. I could build one myself if I could find out what logic is involved.
Someone posted a circuit to make one (I think) but the image is gone now.
I'll have to try to contact them.
I think I actually have figured out a way to do it...
I did see that site, but I have been told that there needs to be a delay
between cranking and when the pulse occurs (or when you push the
OD cancel switch) so that the truck's computer won't think the
OD cancel switch has just shorted itself out.
Combining ideas from the first two URLs, I think it can be done.
