I have the teyes unit in mine. Specifically the cc3 2k 10 inch unit with 128gb memory and 6gb ram. I had a couple other cheaper Amazon units and they constantly froze and lagged and would have to reboot. Looked up some reviews in Teyes and they were all pretty positive. They do cost a bit more but work great. Loads everything fast doesn't lag and works pretty much just like any regular tablet. Have reverse camera hooked to it. Forward facing dvr camera.m that records. You can even get them with 360* camera options and tpms now. The higher ram option definitely makes it load stuff faster.
Thank you, is the 10-in version look kind of bulky? Or any chance we can post a picture?

It's not to bulky IMO. I like it. Makes using Google maps very nice. Also has Netflix YouTube apps and everything on it. So can even watching movies on it. You do have the get custom mounting it but it's nothing hard. I've had it mounted in a couple different dash panels now over the years. Here is a Pic in stock dash. (I have a 08 dash in mine now). Any other questions just ask away.

I've recently come across an android headunit from a company called the Mekede Dudu7. Yes, the marketing team needs some work. But it's got some high-end specs and can accommodate a 360 camera system.

Thank you, that is definitely nice but a little too big for my liking. I'll have to see if they have a 7-in version that has all the power that the 10-in version has. I briefly went to their website and looks like they have quite a few different models so I'll have to sort through them.

On the original dash it looks like its just clearing the vents, but is it blocking the a/c controls?

I looked into the teyes unit and unfortunately it looks like they only make the larger screens so that's a bummer. If anyone else has recommendations on which unit to get I would greatly appreciate it

Perhaps a screen in Portrait orientation would fit your needs?
Sous , does the OBD adapter plug directly into the back of the head unit from the dongle? Sorry I'm a little confused, I called crutchfield to see what kind of head units they recommended and they told me that none of their head units are capable of reading anything from the OBD2 port which I was pretty surprised by

I'll answer, if I may. The 90* dongle plugs into the OBD port on one end, and into an OBD/USB adapter (e.g. OBDLink EX) on the other. The USB end of the adapter plugs into - most likely - the radio's proprietary USB Y cable, and the other end of that plugs into the radio's - you guessed it, proprietary - USB consolidation port. I say "most likely" because there are radios (Joying?) that have native USB-A ports on them, and thus skip the Y cable.
Crutchfield is not entirely correct. Sony radio's for example, come with an app that will read OBD data. However, it is generic, and not particularly helpful for us, since we need something Ford-specific - like Forscan - to read all our codes. That means you need an Android-based radio, which Crutchfield does not sell.
I wish one of the mainstream Android phone makers (e.g. Samsung) would get into the car radio market. An Android radio is just an Android phone with a different form factor, and the big guys are way, way better at supporting their stuff than the Chinese outfits. Of course, a Samsung radio wouldn't cost $300, either.

Thank you for the explanation, that makes sense. So with a Android head unit I can run a USB cable from the dongle to the back of the head unit correct? But I may need a special USB adapter in order to actually connect to the head unit? As far as forscan goes, would I need to download forscan lite on the head unit itself or would it be mirrored off of my phone? Sorry for all of the questions, I am electronically challenged

To the truck's OBD port, you connect a 90* OBD cable, like this:
It plugs into the OBD interface on an OBD/USB adapter, like this: OBDLink® EX - OBD2 Adapter For ELM327 & FORScan
The USB end of that adapter plugs into the radio's USB cable, or to the radio, itself, depending on which radio you have. Here's an example from ATOTO. You can see the two USB female interfaces on their cables at the top of the image. On my older model it's a Y-cable, but it looks like the newer ones use separate cables for each USB interface. That's a better idea, IMHO. https://www.atotodirect.com/cdn/shop...308&width=1125
The only way I've run Forscan is natively on the radio. I doubt it works under Android Auto, but someone else may know more.
