I have one of those cheap light testers too, the factory trailer brake controller in the F250 doesn't recognize a trailer as being back there with just the light tester installed (cluster still say "no trailer connected".
But with the more expensive break tester thing installed, it does.

Thanks for the update. I wasn't sure if it would work or not. Now I'm curious what it takes to make the truck think there's something there. Probably just a resistor but that's the extent of my knowledge.
