can't seem to get the plug from a trailer to plug in to the ford installed 4 prong plug, both on a 2000 and a 2007. they plastic is thicker and has a rubber molded cover that goes around it. what is the deal? never had any issued with what was on my ranger.
It's probably just because they are different brands and are made just a little different.
Try spraying them with WD-40 or silicone spray, this might make it easier to get them together.
If worse comes to worse and they won't go together then you should just buy a new plug for your trailer that is not the same brand as the one already on it and it should plug in easier.
Ford, in its infinite wisdom did this. 90% of the aftermarket plugs will not plug in properly. As stated earlier, use a razorknife and trim around the plug on the truck side, and you will not have any more problems with any plug, on any trailer/
