I've used CRC Electronic Cleaner to clean out the 7 pin plug, but the leads are still fairly discolored. Is there any way to clean the leads better? I thought about trying to get some sandpaper in the holes. Will taking apart the entire plug give me complete access to the leads?
I have a nice spark plug cleaner that has a nice small round stiff brush. Works nicely. As far as my truck plug, I've been putting dielectric grease in it, seems to be keeping it very clean.
Buy some deoxit, little pricey but worth it especially if you plan on cleaning up electric contacts.
The spray does a good job of cleaning up the contacts and allows the deoxit to really do its job.
I also have a terminal maintenance kit made by IPA. part#8048
It is nice but there have been some nasty terminals where I still needed to get some sandpaper in there.
Emory file, cheap and flexible, beauty section at the walls - mart. Or "borrow" one from the Mrs. they're made of stiff paper and can be trimmed to fit. Just need to take the oxidation off.

every toolbox should have a nail file in it.
did it for years, buying that kit was like a new world maybe it was just a new tool/toy but it does seem easier. You can also buy a lifetime supply of nail files for the cost of that kit
They wear down/out and need replaced also. But wow night and day. I'm sold on it since all my vehicles are antiques and I already used mine several times.
