Hey Guys, so I have a 95 F350 2wd E4OD. It has a hard shift in first tried change fluid and filter 3 times and nothing. Figured it’s the valve body as the springs are known to bust. So I proceeded to take off the smaller valve body and the large and In doing so I ripped the lower paper gasket. I have a 94 7.3idi 2wd E4OD and the previous owner added a shift kit and I want to swap it into my truck. I’ve pulled it all off that truck but noticed that the valve body gasket/separator plate were different than the stock one I ripped.
Here is my problem, I’m too nervous to pull the whole plate off there because of all the check ***** and everything and how much of a pain that’d be installing it upside down under the truck. Secondly I don’t know what website he got that modified plate from. Can I just use the stock upper and lower gaskets and plate with the modified valve bodies . If not can I just use the smaller valve body and the stock gaskets. Edit : I watched a rebuild video and if the only thing that comes out when I drop the plate is the check ***** and the poppet valve/spring. I am comfortable taking off the stock and putting the modified plate on, but am wondering if it’s even possible to set the poppet on a spring and put it together while it’s all upside down.
Use assembly goop from Lubeguard for check ball retention. There is blue and green, basically the same except melting points ever so slightly different. Pet jelly melts at pretty low temps, BTDT.
Order gaskets from Transtar. While in there do a 4R100 pan for drain plug, well at least 4x ones have that.
Hard shifts could be a jammed accumulator. Superior makes a nice setup to clean the bores also buy an ATSG manual before you rely upon Yt00b guys, some are smart. Few are

Good tip on the check ***** was gonna just use the transmission oil but that sounds like a safer bet! So I can use a tiny coat of vasoline? I did the swap on the 4x4 pan and filter already. I am still wondering how to get the the two springs in there upside down. One has a ball on the end for pressure release and the other spring with the tiny filter. I’m sure I’ll figure it out tiny bit of super glue couldn’t hurt lol.
Vas works okay if cool outside but it melts easy in your hands. This is why I 100% recommend the Lubeguard stuff. Hell, see if you can give a local trans shop a few dollars for an ounce or two.
Can you shoot pics of what you have on hand? I have installed a Transgo Tugger kit and a Superior Tow Power, TG has a metal plate between the accumulator body where the Superior does not.

No superglue. Fix it once and correctly.
Okay I ordered some of the firmer green stuff they had. And yeah I Have the transgo hd2 E4OD kit. It has the metal plate for the smaller valve body. Thank you for the tip I got a good feeling the assembly lubes gonna benefit me a lot with retaining everything,
