ok hey everyone, gettin my truck ready for some new stuff one of them being a shift kit for the dreadded e40d my truck is 90 f250 460 1 ton, now can the shift kit hurt anhting and is a b&m a good one to buy? Urgent responses needed
I've got an Art Carr/California Performance Transmissions (the REAL Art Carr) valve body.
I'd go with a Factory Tech Valve Body if I could do it over again. Not sure if any of the supporting vendors sell it, here's their site though: http://www.factorytechtransmissions.com
The B&M shift improvers are purely electronic, I believe. I think a revised valve body is the way to go, long-term.
OldRed, check out becontrols.com, they have a shift kit that is VERY tunable to your liking.I think it's around $100 or so.I've got their shift kit and TCS programable CPU controlling my E4 and it's the best thing I've done to my truck.
Your getting a B&M E40d? It should already be built with a valvebody upgrade and a shift kit....extra clutches, stronger bands, stronger pump, improved planetary gears....the works.... All I would get if thats the case is the TCS from http://www.becontrols.com/
I have the B&M valve body kit in both of my Lightnings and I'm satisfied.I have the street performance or whatever they call the harder setting in my 95L and it is really hard.I have the tow&rv setting in my 93L and it is OK.I think you'd be satisfied with the tow&rv in your truck. It feels a lot better when I towing with my 93 to have the trans shift NOW.
