When I open driver door my running boards deploy on both sides? My previous gen only deployed on the door you opened. Normal? Can I change this setting?

no you can't change change started with 21 f150s
both sides open..real dumb
My expedition only dropped the side you opened
now all of them drop both sides, no matter which door is open...even though you would think it's an easy software fix.....since truck knows which doors are open.
And mine retract after 8-10 seconds, which is not enough time to close a door on one side and go around to the other side to open another door before they do so. I thought I had seen somewhere that it was a 20-25 second delay, but can't find it now. Feeling a bit of a fool since that's one of the things I complained to my dealer about. If it only did the side where the door was open I'd be a lot happier about it.
under vehicle settings on main screen (center) , under running boards there is a selection for extended time up to 5 minutes they stay out to allow for going around, etc

In mine it's under Features. And it's not "Up to" five minutes. It's either Standard (a claimed 25 seconds) OR 5 minutes. I don't really want 5 minutes...
i selected the extended time of 5 minutes....its a fast 5 for sure
i walked from truck to house about 100 feet
grabbed charger and cord, plugged cord into socket on porch and walked back to truck and they retracted just about the time i arrived back to the truck
i was not walking slow
I will see what the dealer says. I may just change it to 5 minutes if they can't adjust "normal" to 20-30 seconds. I believe they automatically retract regardless of any settings at X MPH.
"5 minutes" is OK so far. The nice thing is that they DO retract after X seconds or Y speed after setting off. When I've parked the vehicle I don't really care if they stay down for 2 minutes or 5 minutes. So this will probably be my lifelong setting. I DO wish that they would only come down on the side where the door has been opened though. Need to look at FORSCAN.

the both sides thing has been a hot topic here, the f150 forum, 4th gen and expedition
Vehicle knows which door is opened. But it's a software issue, not presently something in forscsn
The 5 minutes in my situation is perfect
they stay deployed for 5 minutes or until I press lock
It's great for going around other side to unload stuff
yes they retract at fwd speed somewhere in the 3 to 5 mph range
mine do it as I roll out of driveway
Deploying both sides is ignorant. It's like when someone in the back seat unbuckles their belt, I can pop open the driver's side door and close it and the chime/nanny is canceled. Like someone could unbuckle in the back, hop over the console, and exit the driver's door. That's dumb.
