I was gonna make one post about it but I have so many questions im going to separate it into two posts. On my other post I mentioned how I want to do alot of suspension work on my 97 f250 HD. One of the things im considering doing is a front axle swap, and I have some questions regarding it.
I have heard nothing good about the IFS and always hear about people solid axle swapping. How involved or difficult is it? I dont have much knowledge on working on trucks, but if i where to watch videos i could probably figure it out, assuming its not something super complex to do. If I where to do a solid front axle swap, would the front suspension not ride as hard? Ive heard that coil springs aren't as stiff as leaf springs, but I'm not sure.
It works adequate when the bushings are not nearly 30 years old. Problem is how it articulates with leaves and the TTB style.
SFA swap is going to cost you quite a bit and most guys do a RSK while there to improve ride quality. I would budget an easy $2500-3000 after all said and done.

what is TTB and RSK? And I assume SFA stands for solid front axle correct?
TTB is twin traction beam. Fords name for these style fronts. Unless another name for 4x one, whatever to me same stuff.
RSK is reverse shackle kit. Moves leaf shackles to other end, ride quality improvement. I THINK you gain about 2" lift due to changing it.
SFA is solid front axle.
Note there are kits available to use Super Duty axles. Cost and stuff, got me. They to run a metric bolt pattern so your existing wheels will not work.
