I'm a bit confused ........ so you did have stiction previously and Archoil never really fixed it? Or have you never had stiction and you do not know if Archoil really helped or not.
Oil has always been Rotella T6 15w-40 and the truck has always experienced stiction since I've owned it. Typically, it disappears (or at least I don't notice it) after reaching operating temps.
Any thoughts on the Archoil fuel treatment?
I'd really love to be able to make it to warmer weather before I have to do any serious mechanical repairs - planned downtime would be nice!
Mark - Just to make sure that I'm picking up what you're putting down...you're suggesting I try these cheaper possible avenues before replacing injectors?
Is it possible that the P0272 code is a result of severe stiction?
Thread update: Finally got around to doing the oil change w/ additive yesterday. Part of the delay was waiting on warm weather, part was some doubt about the course of action that Bismic suggested.
I was wrong.
I drove the truck about 60 miles today and the difference was night & day! The only vibration I felt was from the expansion joints in the pavement.
To say that I'm pleased is an understatement.
Many thanks to Bismic for the quality of his advice and my apologies for doubting him.
Lol . No big deal to me. I'm not too worried about being 100% perfect w/ free help on the internet, and was merely suggesting an inexpensive thing to try ..........
Who knows, you may still need those expensive injectors at some point down the road. Seems to me that once you have experienced it, the injectors are always prone to it.
Well anyway - appreciate the update. Posting results/conclusions can be a help to others.
