I was wondering if anyone knew how to find out if recall work has been done to your truck or not. I bought mine used and after checking over the list of recalls I realized I'm experiencing a minor problem that may be related to a recall problem. The problem is that after using the cruise control, the idle does not drop back down to normal until I have reached a complete stop. It does this intermittently. The recall related to this is that it seems the cruise control servo motor interferes with the throttle cable and won't let it idle properly.
Make : FORD
Model : RANGER
Year : 1998
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number : 99V062001
Recall Date : MAR 30, 1999
Component: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
Potential Number Of Units Affected : 898739
This recall was done on my Ranger a while back, although I never had any problems with it.
Ask the dealer to run your VIN # through OASIS ...that should bring up any open recalls on your vehicle.
Or, you can print out this document and bring it with you to the dealership when you ask them.
