I have a 1996 F250 PS with only 80k miles on it. I took it in to the Ford dealer to have the recall done. They sent me on my way. A week later I was on the freeway to Portland and went to use my cruise control. It turned on fine and set the speed correctly. However, when I pushed the increase button 5 times to increase my cruise by 5 mph, nothing really happened except the engine bucked a second. I did it slower and it came up 2 mph.
When I needed to turn off the cruise, I hit the off button. It did not turn off, even after 3 tries. It finally did. I did notice while messing around that it would decrease the speed when I pushed the off button.
I had not had any problems before the recall fix. I had always thought that the Ford cruise on this truck was the best one I have ever had. It worked just as promised for 14 years.
Could this be from the recall repair or could this be a control unit that has failed somehow at the same time?
