Went to my dealer today to spend my FordPass reward money. Absolutely amazing how much they inflate pricing; especially when they realize I'm not spending actual cash. After pricing me his "deal" of $68 for a 5qt jug of Motorcraft 5W-40, I opted to just get his overpriced oil filters, two fuel filter kits, a replacement DEF cap and a spare. Cost me $11 out of pocket.
When I mentioned going to Rotella T6, he reared back and said he'd highly recommend I did not do that. Supposedly something about the paraffin base of T6 creates clogging issues with the 6.7's injectors over time. He wasn't aware of any other brands that had this problem.
I use T6 in my tractor so it would be nice to continue with the truck. It's obviously readily available. But is there any credibility to this claim? I hadn't heard of anything up until now.
Lawnspecialties,
So there's a red flag on the oil clogging the injectors over time statement. The last Power Stroke that used oil for the injectors was the 6.0PSD.
Rotella T6 is on Fords approved oil list and the base oil is made from natural gas so there should not be any paraffin wax that comes from crude oil in the T6. As a matter of fact, parraffin wax in crude oil hasn't been an issue for decades now.

Thanks to all. I will be switching to T6 from Motorcraft at my next change.
FishOnOne. Great to hear from you. It's been awhile. We finally got back into the RVing this year so I should be back on the forums a little more. I knew I could get some good info here regarding this concern.
price wise they all inflate pricing when a factory credit is used, my wife has a crosstrek had a $150.00 coupon from subaru to be used for a service what cost me $89.00 one trip went up to $158.60 using that coupon
oil wise tell that dealer where to stick that false statement rotela is one of the most trusted diesel oil made

Well in the guy who is just making stuff up's defense the last 6.0 only rolled off the line a scant 18 years ago....
As others have said, use T6 with confidence, the people who made the engine said it is fine.

true back in the days when it was dyno based, i ran it in a 74 pete that had a 1693TA 425hp cat for power, "yah that old dozer motor" at 750.000 we had a inframe done, motor still looked almost brand new inside. cat repair center told us it most likely would have gone another 250.000 plus
I switched from Motorcraft 15w-40 to Rotella T6 5w-40 around 50,000 miles and with 130,000 now (which is a low sample of miles), my 6.7L hasn't had a come-a-part and Blackstone reports all is well with oil samples. My last sample was three years and 11,200 miles on the oil and Blackstone reported one of the best samples yet. Long term that age and distance might not be the best idea but I plan to keep using T6.
Anyone have any experience with Valvoline 5W-40 Premium Blue full synthetic?
It meets Ford's spec, several people on here have run it and had success. I ran it in my old dodge way back in the day. No issues. It is a good option.
