I have been taking my truck to different places to get the oil changed. I got use to a place that I like and they decided to go up from 80 to 130. I haven't yet been able to find another place im happy with. Took it to a new place yesterday and they had to order the rotella. While he was waiting for the oil to get there he went ahead and drained it, took the old filter off, and put the new filter on. He "primed" the old filter with what ever oil is normally used in oil changes (what ever comes out of their pump). Is there anything wrong with having a quart of a different type of oil in there?
for now i would say no it wouldnt harm any thing, seeing how it would mix with 14 quarts of the right oil.but i would change it as soon as you can.my 2 cents
I have to ask, why are you not changing it yourself? It's very easy to do and a lot cheaper and you know it's done right. The mixed oil may foam on you, but you will probably be ok.
Like Barry said. The thing to pay attention to is how your motor acts. The stuff they dumped in the filter more than likely does not have the required anti-foaming agents required for our HEUI system. If you get any foamy oil going to the injectors, the truck will seem low on power or not run right.
Their oil may shear down faster also, but I don't think it will be a big cause for concern with the Rotella they mixed in with it.
Im guessing when he "primed" the oil filter, he didnt fill it up to the top anyways (something tells me that if he was to lazy to get the right weight oil, he was to lazy to top it up), and that little bit wont hurt anything.
I would change it myself next time if I were you though. Saves alot of cash, and its so simple.
I have done it myself a few times. I have a shop, so you would think id want to do it myself. One thing that keeps me from doing it is that I need to build extensions for my 2 post lift so that I can lift my truck. I despise doing any work under a vehicle when i have a perfectly good lift. Also, I dont really have time to do it myself most of the time. Before prices went up I only saved about 20 doing it myself.

I spend $52 - $54 plus tax changing it myself and don't have to worry about some quick lube place accidentally stripping out the plug, pouring in the wrong oil, or something like that.

Besides, maybe it's just time for a better lift
haha, talk **** about my lift if you want, but how many people actually own their own lift
Lift?! I crawl right under my truck, and its a stock height f250!
While a lift would be nice, theres no reason a guy (not you in particular) cant crawl under there and do it. Theres lots of room, and if the day is nice you could even have a nap under there while waiting for the oil to drain!
Up here ive been looking into a bendpack(I think thats the name) and they are relatively well priced. ( for a lift)
That looks like a Whip Industries. My brother in law has two of those in his shop, great lifts. I use it from time to time and use there 8" spacer in the front, and a 4" in the rear, works great. You might want to check them out and order some. http://www.whipindustries.com/2post_acc.html
