Hey all! 1993 F250, running and driving great now, but…
all was fine until rain today. I turned on the wipers, most settings did nothing, but I got it to work. Ok right?
well, after rain stopped, I turned them off, and now here’s the odd bit. No turn signals now (not a fuse), and when I touch brakes, both the rear brakes AND the front turn lamps light up.
no other changes, so given the wiper is integrated into turn signal switch, I assume the fault lies there.
+1 for that
Your T/S switch is shorted most likely
Same thing happens if it starts to get unplugged
So, pull the column shrouds and check the wiring connectors at the rear of the T/S multi-function switch before you order another one
Ok, so I located the issue, and it was odd. Apparently my truck came with a reversed polarity for the blinker, power on the side, output up top. The flasher burned out (given the dust, it might be original). I did a jumper on the flasher, and everything came back into 100% operation. Called ford, and they said it’s rare but it WAS an option? Anyway, they’re sending me the correct flasher to get back up and going (legally).
I honestly considered resetting the wires in the fuse block to eliminate this, but as the part is enroute, I’ll stay the course.
update: the reverse polarity flasher cured all the wierd glitches. Trucks lighting and wipers are running as per stock.
