Transmission issues
Looking into also; slip yoke on tail housing different too???? update 10.56am : I believe 4x4 trans are same (your good to go).......2wd's you need to swap the 2wd E4OD tail onto 2wd 4R100 tail, is all.
(not to be confused w/ trying to swap between 2wd ro 4wd trans! That would require complete trans internal swap- at which, you would just reman your E4OD haha)
Hang on with the E4OD pump. I'm researching this, and from what I can tell, guys have tried just about every combo haha. I was just seeing the stator supports may be different (though this may apply to only 4R100 w/ pto outputs). One guy claims to have used both, the trans go-lu kit and the plug Mark mentions and he got just right results.
There's a lot of threads out there online, all over for this swap. I would spend some hard time digging into them before rushing into anything, so you can use which ever pump you need and mod it once. I've never really dug into this too hard.
I'm going to research and try to see what I would do for sure. It's about time I stopped and learned about this conversion. Mark knows far more than I do about this of course. I'm just tossing in tidbits haha. I'll see what I end up thinking about all this after an hour or so too.
update 11:16am - I still don't know what I would personally do about a pump. I can tell you, my instincts are telling me to stay with E4OD. I'd like to have the two trans side by side. If I saw the E4OD pump go in, without issue or be modified (stator support issue?) to do so, this would be my choice. "F5" casting, fully modded w/ tugger kit. Problem is, this isn't most guys choice. They're all modding the 4R100 in some way and getting mixed results. I like triple disc converters so the Transgo LU kit, no longer interests me. Maybe, it shouldn't be overthought. Follow Marks advice, just plug that massive hole (w/ proper size hole in a cup) in the 4R100 pump and run it. I'm going to keep researching, but for what you want to do, just follow Marks advice of course.

That's installing a steel drainback valve, by the way. OEM are plastics, apparently in 4r100 pumps too (old one shown in photo). It's an affordable little mod like under 15 bucks on ebay, explained here;

You might want to drill your hole in it, before putting it down in the 4R100 pump. You wont even get any shaving down in the bore to have to rinse out this way. Just rinse them off the plug.
Use some red lock tight on it, when you set it down in the pump hole.
I think I'm good with the 4R100 pump too if I were doing this. I would slide a plug down in there and just treat it like an E4OD pump. Install a steel drainback valve, a full tugger kit and run 'er. Mark has the right idea. No need to complicate things.
Maybe the stator shafts do swap right over so you can run the E4OD pump too? I dunno, but just as easy, or easier to just install the plug and "convert" it to E4OD pump basically. Too simple.
