Remote start questions

I had an aftermarket remote start installed today in my 2018 F250. I've gotten six from this company over the past ten years and always been happy. One of the features I always have them disable is the re-arm. I don't want the module auto locking my doors. If I'm in public, they're already locked. If the vehicle is in my driveway in the middle of nowhere, I don't want them locked. Never been a problem until this one because they tie into the factory module. So even though the option is disabled in the aftermarket module, when the remote start is triggered, the Ford module triggers the locks before the vehicle is started. I also discovered that as soon as I insert the key and turn it to the ON position, it turns my heated seats on full. I like the heated seats, but almost never use level 3--usually just 1. Because the vehicle was not equipped with the factory remote start, the remote start options aren't available in the options in the instrument panel menus.

Is this something that a dealer can enable so that the options can be changed from the menus, or even edited by the dealer?
Is the re-arm something that can be disabled so it doesn't auto lock?

Thanks...

Since it is an aftermarket system, I would call the manufacturer for tech help.
I would bet no dealer would want to fool with trying to make any changes like you seek.

If it was messing with the aftermarket system, I'd agree. But it's the Ford module that's doing both the re-arm and the heated seat activation after getting the start command from the aftermarket starter. You may be right though--they may not want to open up the options since it's an aftermarket starter that's interfaced with the module.

I had not heard of Forscan before today. Usually I bring my vehicles to a local shop, only doing basic repairs myself. Just looking at a tutorial now. Thanks for the suggestion.

My '22 F450 has factory remote start and it always triggers the heated seats and steering wheel below a certain temp and its always to setting 3. I believe if it's set to auto in the cluster then it defaults to the setting 3 when started. So it sounds like yours is doing what they do from the factory

I've actually always set my HVAC settings on "auto" feature, and whenever I use the factory remote start (multiple RAM and Ford vehicles), it always defaults to highest settings. Toggles the steering wheel heater and heated seats below 9*C, and cooled seats on max above 19* C

Now I'm curious to try it when HVAC not on AUTO, as sometimes I'll run in to the store for a bit, shut it off, hit the button when at cashier, get out to a blistering hot seat lol..

Thanks everyone for the info. It sounds like it's probably on the default auto settings. I have very little experience with a decent factory remote. My wife's previous vehicle had one installed, but that one was so flaky about when it would decide to start (or not) I had an aftermarket installed. So really only a month or so to play with the settings.

I've never use the "auto" feature for the HVAC, I never feel like it's the perfect temp. I was referring to the "climate control" in the instrument cluster that you can change how the heated/cool seats come on during a remote start situation. Settings>Advanced Settings>Vehicle>Remote Start>Climate Control at that point you have 2 options, Auto and Last setting. At least that's how my '22 Platinum is.
