My son-in-law just picked up a used 18 Lariat that is pretty stripped (never known of such a thing!) and although i does have push button start it does not have remote start. My XLT has remote start and I added FordPass which gives me many options via my phone, so we added FordPass to his phone\truck and activated it but it doesn't give the option to remote start either, it only shows fuel level of the truck.. am I missing something here? I thought all SYNC3 trucks (his is since without nav) had the ability to lock \ unlock \ start \ stop...? His will do nothing but show fuel level?? I am certainly proplexed by his upper trim level truck that acts more like a XL work truck...

 

You would have to enable remote start using forscan for it to show as available. Lariat trucks with the base package are very identical to XLT trucks.

 

I can enable remote start via ForScan, I saw the option but didn't try it.. So that should get the FordPass all up and going no additional module or programming needed?
Also if he were to buy a third fob with remote start function (after programmed) will it work after remote start enable or will an additional fob module be needed in order for the fob to to work?

 

Non remote start trucks use a 315hz transmitter. You will need the ford module or buy the module on ebay that uses the factory fobs.

 

Its my understanding that to have Remote start under Ford Pass, you need Sync Connect which is an option and a real piece of Hardware. I have an XLT with 302a but no Sync Connect and my Ford pass only shows Fuel level.

 

This is correct. The Sync Connect option will be called out separately on the window sticker if the vehicle is equipped with it. I have Sync 3 in both my 17 Mustang and 17 F150 but only the F150 shows it on the window sticker and it is also the only one that will let me remote start it through FordPass.

 

Is that why it has the Shark Fin for the Sync Connect Embedded Modem for that through FordPass,I think that's how it works,How come some 2018 trucks
have it and some don't Probably because its a Option Called Sync Connect.

 

My 2016 Escape Titainium has the shark fin but it does not have Ford Pass. My 2018 truck does though.
