I only recall once ever seeing someone have a problem due to an OBD2 adapter. Not common in my book.
From my perspective, more common to see the cam sensor sensitive with its mounting depth, and thereby the gap between the wheel and the sensor. A new pigtail wire it in brings up its own set of issues. And the fact that you moved it and were able to start is more of a probability to me.
