For example, I’m looking to put fog/driving lights on the UIS so one soft switch to turn a set of light on/off, then have another soft switch immediately below the first soft switch that would cause the light to come on when the high beams are on.
I’d have the hitch mount backup lights on a soft switch so the come on when I go into reverse, and also have them on their own soft switch to turn them on if some jerk is following to close. It’s probably possible to get similar functionality just from the Upfitter switches in the overhead console.
I’m still learning about the all the triggers that are available, and the outputs they can drive.
Am I the Lone Ranger on this kind of stuff or just over-thinking it, as usual?
I wanted to do a bunch of similar stuff with soft buttons too but it looked liked with the new upfitter 2.0 system that integrates with APIM, you have to use their online/cloud based system to create the workflows, which means you have to be a registered business that does upfits and approved by Ford.

Yes, I was going to talk to Knapheide about doing the programming. We have one that’s here inthe Portland (Oregon) area.
Not sure why they do not provide the software to those of us that purchased the Pro Upfit package when ordering our trucks. Even if not for full access just enough to set up lights, strobes, and a couple other items that could be pre-programmed easy to download
Totally agree. I think the technical reason though is that they're likely loading modified software on the APIM (Sync 4 system) and it needs to be signed by Ford with a certificate so it recognizes it as safe and legitimate code. I'm sure there are safety and regulatory reasons they have to do this so malicious software can't be used to send your truck off a cliff if coded incorrectly, although an Eject or Smoke Screen soft button would be awesome.
