Typical time delay for ordering a custom super duty?

What is expected these days for amount of time to deliver a new custom ordered truck, from sitting down at the dealer and placing the order, to delivery of the vehicle?

I'm guessing 2-3 months?

Thanks in advance for any recent real world numbers.

SO many variables go in to this. What model and trim? What options? What is a current part constraint for Ford? Dealer volume and allocation? Position of Venus in relation to Jupiter?

My 2024 450 Platinum was 14 months from order to estimated build date, and it is scheduled for next week to finally get built. I got disheartened to the point where I found an abandoned custom order 450 a few hours away and grabbed it. Now that mine is being built I will probably swap trucks.

XL and XLTs seem to get built quickly, with Lariats easier than upper trims but with more waiting than the base trims.

Yikes! This is not good news.

I want to order an F250 Platinum Tremor with the 7.3L gasser and a few other options.

I cannot wait more than about 6 months for this truck. Do they tell you how long it will take when you place the order?

thanks

No. Your dealer may give you some guidance based on their knowledge of historical orders and current constraints the factory has communicated out, but until you get a build date and VIN issued it is all educated guessing. Even then it can still be delayed for things like off-site installs like spray in bed liner and transport delays. The whole thing is a crap shoot.

All you can really do is put in the order and hope for the best, then if time gets short find something in inventory. For my part, my order is the same as yours except not tremor, and it took 2 months.

Really depends on if any particular add-on you ordered is on back-order. Took right about 3 months for my F350 with pretty standard options. The F-450 and anything Platinum/Limited trim are notorious for taking the longest.

Covid is over, what's the problem now ?

Another chip shortage?

In 2019 my superduty build only took 5 weeks from Kentucky to arrive at my dealer in Canada

What gives ?

I won't be surprised if Ford gets back to an 8-10 week build schedule. It has taken a long time for their back orders to get filled, but except for the 450 and platinum Extreme everything in the frying pan, 8 - 10 weeks will become the norm again. Unless you go nuts on the order, a 7.3 Tremor 250 should just be a couple months order to on lot. Its getting closer to normal order times.

I ordered my 2024 F250 Lariat CC long bed 7.3 on July 30th. It was scheduled to be built the week of September 2nd. The actual build date was September 5th. Ford showed it was shipped September 6th. It sat in the rail yard outside St. Louis for about two weeks before it was delivered to my dealer in Southern Missouri on September 27th.

In my case I didn't have any constraints on the parts needed on the truck. The only upgrades I got were the 3.73 E-locker, Chrome package, heavy duty front suspension, upfitter switches, front and rear inner fenders, and Rapid Red paint

I would also try to find out if your dealer even has an allocation for the version you want.
This was a big issue a couple years back, may not be as big a deal in today's environmet.

I ordered a F-450 Lariat Ultimate 10/30, received build date 11/07 for week of 12/16.
Much quicker than I was expecting. Not from a huge dealer either.
