I have a 1982 f350 with a 351windsor I've been rebuilding and I was wondering what intake manifold I should use. I have a brand new Edelbrock 1905 and an Edelbrock intake but the intake seems like it's not tall enough? Seems like it's sucking air from somewhere and I realized I can see the very tops of the ports in the heads. Did the truck 351w have taller heads than the cars or what?
I took off the original intake it was a two barrel originally
Are you sure you have the correct intake? Sounds like you have a 302 intake. The 302 and 351w have a lot of interchangeable parts, they are basically the same engine, except the 351w has a taller block. So that makes the "V" of the engine wider.
Got a picture of the issue and the intake as we may see something you dont see.
When fitting intakes to motors I drop them on with out the gaskets so I can see if the angle of the intake and heads are the same and when the gap is between intake and block at the front & rear so I know how thick the bead of gasket maker has to be, I dont use the rubber or cork end gaskets.
This will tell me if the intake will work or not.
