how can i id this motor.the valve cover just says 351 cid.its out of a 74 ltd.i pulled my 302 out of my 78 f150 and installed the 351 in it my exhaust from the 302 did not fit.the bolts where straight across on 302 and at a 45 on the 351.i ordered a set of flowtech headers for a 351w and they fit the engine.had to change waterpump and had to get 1 for a cleveland lol.now from what you guys are telling me i have no clue what i have.
get the block numbers from above the starter and ill check my book.
manifold bolts-
W= in a row
C= at a 45* angle but with same bell houseing as a 302/ 351w
M= at a 45* angle but with a bell that is the same as a 429/460
also look at the starter, if both bolts come from front its a small block, if one from front and one from back its a big block
havent got the numbers yet but exhaust bolts are at a 45 and both starter bolts go in from the front also has bellhousing pattern for the 302.is the cleveland a better motor i bought it and trans for 100 with less than 65,000 miles on them
ill check my books in the morning for the stock HP rateings. is it a 2 or 4 bbl carb and does it have 2 or 4bbl heads (look at the front corner of each head, you will see the number inbetween the intake and the valvecover on the head) sorry best i can explain that.
i believe they wouldn't, the cleveland is a big block and the windsor is a small block.
351 C block is about the same size as the 351 W block. 351m/400 is almost the same deck height as the FE and 385 blocks, but has the SBF cylinder spacing.
IF it's a '74 351, it can't be an M, might be a C and is probably a W.
As for HP/TQ, stock "net" HP from '74 W would have been 150-160 or so, compared to the pre '71 250hp for the 2bbl, 290 for 4bbl gross hp figures. Torque in high 200s, approx. Someone may have the exact numbers. Add your long tubes and subtract wear and tear. Who knows? If you fiddled with it to make it run good with the headers, say 200 net. No one will challenge that.
Figure out what it is though...that will be important.
1-The D2AE is a 351c block.
2-351w intake WILL NOT work on this engine.
3-351c and 351w do have the same bellhousing bolt patterns.
4-351c IS NOT a "big block"
5-351c and 351m/400 use the same 2v heads
