Good morning and happy 4th of July!
Does anybody here have any real world experience with intake adapters?
I'm in the process of gathering parts for a 351W build for an F150. The Edelbrock 5.8 truck intake is nowhere to be found. Everything I read says the truck 5.0 intake outflows the 5.8 intake. I have both. Although expensive, the price motorsports adapters are still cheaper than a new intake even if it was in stock. And I wouldn't have to wait months to have mine ported. I've searched and searched and I can only find threads where people were thinking about using them.
Any personal experience you would be willing to share would be greatly appreciated.
I have. There isn't a ton of info out there about it. If the stock 5.0 upper will bolt to it, it is a viable option. After getting the nasty polish beed blasted of course!
I've always wondered about the increased likelihood of leaks with adapters. There's twice as many joints to seal, and even stock the intakes can sometimes be a bit problematic to seal.
Engine Masters just did an intake swap using Edelbrock Super Victor and Victor Jr(Ford Racing’s version),AFR, TFS, and Speedmaster(offshore Funnel Web) on a 363.
Speedmaster intake did very poorly.
For the cost and maintenance of using adapters, just buy the right manifold.
Adapters started because there were no other options.

Exactly why im asking... Good luck finding an Edelbrock 5.8 truck intake for sale. I thought I had found one far far away on FB marketplace, but after getting more pics from the seller, it turned out to be for a 5.0.
This may all be a moot point now. Ive been talking with Matt at Tmoss porting. Im just going to send my stock lower in to have it worked over. Thanks for the replies though.

So which is the "right" manifold?
How did the others you listed do?
Okay, I don't have a Motortrend subscription and I can't find it on YouTube. But, they do have a teaser on FB. They were all single plane carb intakes. Not exactly apples to apples but it does show the quality, or lack thereof.
Figured I would show some pics of the lower manifold back from Tmoss. Matt was easy to deal with and I had it back in under 2 weeks. Sure beats the waiting period for some of the other places!
