Too lazy to search What is everyone's opinion of upgrading headlights. Truck came with Halogen and I'd like to investigate something better if it's not a major project. Also upgraded fog lights. Is it a bulb swap or a complete component R&R?
Thanks for any advice.
A quick side note - when I bought the truck it had LED headlights installed (aftermarket). I had all kinds of issues with lighting I could not figure out - exterior lights would come on randomly when the truck was parked. Sometimes they would dim after a while and then return to full bright. Had it in for other item and added that to the list. Service advisor told me someone had swapped out the headlights with something not compatible. It was throwing 12 BCM codes. He said he could swap them back to stock at no cost so I had that done. All the lighting demos went away. Just FYI in case anyone is chasing similar issues.
I now drive a 23 with factory LED. But previously I had 4 of this generation truck with halogens.
I swapped LED headlight bulbs, among other locations into all of them. Had good luck with Beamtech at first and then Hikari. Big improvement. Make sure you adjust them to avoid blinding oncoming drivers. I found some good tips at Headlight Revolution even though I never bought from them.
Auxito. I replaced all four headlights and the fog lights on my 22 F250. Awesome beam pattern and oncoming traffic does not flash me. I installed them in three of my other cars as well as my motorcycle.
The 23+ SD trucks are very limited in their ability to adjust the headlight assembly.
That being said, replacing Halogen bulbs with [good] LEDs shouldn't cause any issues with blinding others.
Even though I now own a '23 I haven't had occasion to adjust the headlights. I was speaking about the 17-22 models, of which I had 4.
In many of the old threads there were those that made a big deal out of the headlight housings not being designed for LED and blinding other drivers. That's why I always advise people making the switch to check the adjustment and use the tips from the video I provided. I did that and got headlight flashes from oncoming drivers very seldom.
