I believe you are referring to Black Flame Customs. I emailed them and they are nice, however; they want $800+ bucks to do them AND you have to provide your housings for them to paint etc.
I received an email from RECON a few days ago that said their 11 lights will be shipping soon.
So, your HID lights don't do it for you? Or are projector bulbs something like an upgrade to your HID?
Just curious.
HIDs are designed to work within a projector housing. The lamps themselves throw off a lot of errant light and the projector housing focuses it. I have a lot of trouble with people flashing me since I installed them despite spending a lot of time adjusting them. The only way I can get them to work is to lower them to a point that the high beams are basically useless.
I think a portion of my problem is that the roads where I live are fairly narrow (old cow paths). When cars pass me in the other direction, I light up the entire interior of the car going by.
Don't get me wrong, I love the light they throw out. Just don't like being an unfriendly neighbor on the road.

Yep, that's them. I almost fell out of the chair when they told me the price! I hope that is correct on the Recons. They have been telling me that since July. My last communication with them was late August.

Thanks Steve, that answered both my questions.
$800 - Wow!
Has anyone found a source for projector headlights for our trucks? Recon was supposed to have them available in July and still nothing...
I too have been waiting and waiting for Recon. The interesting thing from talking to them is that they are not sure if HID bulbs will fit or work with them, which I kinda think defeats the purpose?

That is what they said to me as well. I have not seen the insides of a projector housing, but with the heat an HID light could throw out, there needs to be some way to keep them vented.
Speaking of Recon, I need to provide an update on a couple of things. I will drag my old thread up on the running lights and provide an update on that project.
These are the bulbs I believe they will support with their projector housings when they are available and not true HIDs.
Anyways, when I went to install these bulbs, it became clear they are not a very good quality. In the picture, you will see that one of the tabs snapped off as I was installing them. After I had them installed, it became readily apparent that their definition of "white" is my definition of "blue". How can they be white when they got a blue coating on them? Anyways, I did not think they were any brighter than the stock truck lights and removed them. In fact the blue made them worse...
If you are cost conscious but ambitious, there are some really good DIY tutorials out there.
You can get the Acura projector kits for around $200 if I remember correctly and then spend a day taking out your own lights, retrofitting the Acura projectors and re-installing.
You need to be handy with a dremel to do it properly and know how to turn on your wife's oven but its a pretty straight forward conversion. In the end, you will have full proper, adjustable projectors that will throw the HID light correctly.
I actually did watch the entire series of these a few months back and was tempted to try it -- only if I had a spare set of housing to replace the ones I screwed up.
When I watched the videos it does look pretty involved and time consuming. I would love to give it a try or better yet, have one of you experimenters try it and let me know how it works out!
My vote is for Epic to make a video, anyone second the request?
