When I had my 22 F-150 it has push button start. I knew from here how to get that vehicle into engineering mode so I could adjust the AFE setting to reflect the actual MPG's on that truck.
My new Ranger has key start. What do I have to do to get this truck into engineering mode if I need to adjust the AFE setting on this truck.
#1 Hold the left steering wheel center ok button down.
#2 turn accessory power on (do not start).
#3 you'll see ET appear (top of left screen, don't have standard gauges so I don't know how or where that will appear).
#4 hit ok.
#5 Engineering screen will appear.
#6 hit arrow up to the AFE screen and follow screen to adjust.
#7 once set to desired numbers turn off ignition.
It may take 1 or 2 tanks to fully adjust to the change. That should get you closer to real mileage.

Thank you so much. I will give it a try. The factory setting is just way off the actual hand calculated mileage. On all my F-150's the factory setting was 1000 on my last F-150 I changed the setting to 935 and got pretty much dead on accurate mileage numbers.
Thanks to nitebreeze I was able to get in to engineering mode. Like my previous 2 F-150's the setting from the factory was 1000. Like my two previous F-150's I adjusted the setting from 1000 to 950 as a start point.
I just drove back home here in Michigan from Florida so I got a good bit of driving in to check out the new setting. 1150 miles travelled.
When I stopped to fill up the truck the first time the truck computer showed 24.0 MPG. My hand calculated actual was 24.117 MPG almost dead nuts on.
When I stopped to fill up the truck the second time the truck computer showed 23.3 MPG. My hand calculated actual was 23.945 not to bad.
I will fill up the truck again later today and calculate the actual vs truck computer. I will post the results here later when I have them.
I filled the tank just a short time ago. The truck computer said my mileage was 25.9 MPG. My hand calculated actual was 25.657 MPG. I am going to go back into engineering mode and tweak the setting from 950 to 945 and run 3 more tanks of gasoline through the system. Curious as to what the next 3 tanks will show.
