on my 19 most benefits are the functions of remote fob, which is the key.
otherwise it is not piddlying with key or having keys dangling i can leave it in my pocket.
the ram i drove i hated it. huge remote fob you had to put in column and turn like a key.
so you had to have it and piddle with it
your milage may vary..
i have it on my 2013 explorer, my 2016 fusion, and my 2019 f350, its a great feature. I grab the door handle it unlocks, i get in the truck push a button and it starts. I dont have to put a key in the door and turn it or the ignition. the fob never leaves my pocket. i can lock and unlock my truck without touching a single button on the fob
My wife has it on her 2016 explorer. She keeps the fob in her pocketbook and never takes it out. She loves it. I had it on my Accord. It is nice to just grab the door handle and open the door.
I would have though it would be standard on the XLT and up. Oh well.

Not even standard on a Lariat, you have to spend $3495 on the ultimate package to get it.
Oh well, won't be on my truck, guess you can't miss too much what you've never had before...
I have had it on my 2016 F150 Platinum also my 2017 Explorer and 2019 Raptor. I now have it on my wife's 2020 Expedition but not on my 2021 F250.
I got so used to not pulling a key fob out of my pocket that the first month I drove the 250 I walked over to the door and when it didn't open I remembered. I get rental cars with push button start but not the easy access of grabbing the door handle, you have to use the fob to unlock the door.
So my take on the push button start, I like it as long as it is paired with easy access. My wife used to leave both key fobs in her purse and just walk up to the door hop in and start it. Myself I had the fob in my pocket would walk up hop in and drive away. With these new electronics in the cars suv and trucks I am surprised most MFG are still using a key.
In short I miss it, but is it a deal breaker nope.
What are the benefits of the push button start? The cheapest trim level that has it is the Lariat Ultimate package that is basically an 80k truck....
The first vehicle I owned with it was my 2016 F150 and I’ll never buy another vehicle “without” this feature.
So convenient to me to never have to reach in my pocket for the key at anytime during the day except to put the fob in my pocket when I leave home and remove it when I get back home.
Even when I have to rent a vehicle, I make sure the vehicle has this feature.

I’m sure one does get more than Push Button Start for $3495.00 but I could be wrong.

No, you're not wrong. I have it on my 3 current vehicles, F350, Nissan Leaf and Lexus RX450h. I never pull my keys out of my pocket. I'll never have another car without it. I'm spoiled. I fact for my Lexus my key and fob is a credit card device I carry in my wallet. Tesla from what I understand can use your smart phone. Some day soon every manufacture will have an optional app on a smart phone to allow unlocking and driving.

For me.. when you have 10 or more cars and have key rings for each.. it's nice to have one or a couple "keyless"/push button fobs on your "house" keys and not have to go grab a specific car key ring to go somewhere.
Other than that.. it's good in the rain when you have both hands full of groceries.
I think its definitely worth the money, understand some people may not want to pay 3495 for the ultimate package if the push button start is all they want so Ill give you my take on the Lariat Ultimate Package options and maybe it will help you feel better about the cost.
• Ambient Lighting – Fixed Color This impressed me once and my oldest daughter a couple times, but it impresses my little one every time shes in the truck! • LED Box Lighting (incl. LED Center High-Mounted Stop Lamp (CHMSL)) Game. Changer. You need this in your life • Power-Adjustable Pedals with Memory You'll use this once, then its only purpose is to help the resale value of your truck • Easy Entry/Exit Memory Driver’s Seat Feature Ive never used this one, and ive never seen it as an option to check on KBB • Power Heated/Ventilated Driver/Passenger Seat with Driver Side Memory So nice.... • Intelligent Access with Push-button Start (PEPS) This is a daily improvement on convenience, it adds value, TO YOUR LIFE!! • Power Telescoping/Tilt Steering Wheel/Column, memory and audio controls You'll also only use this once, then its only purpose is to help the resale value of your truck • PowerScope® Trailer Tow Mirrors with Memory Nice to have but I wish they folded in automatically without Forscan modification • Remote Start System I use this when its stupid hot and when its cold, it's worth the money • Remote Tailgate Release This is another one of those options where my truck is slowly stripping me of my man card... and Im ok with it • Tailgate Step Havent had this one yet • Voice-activated Navigation System with HD and SiriusXM® Satellite Radio Meh • Wireless Charging Pad (only included when 40/console/40 seat is ordered) Havent had this one yet, i hear its a pain to get to.
