Boost issue
Hi. I have a question about something that I can’t seem to figure out. I have a 2005 F350 with a 6.0. When climbing a hill when towing, turbo boost will max out around 28psi. After several seconds of the boost being maxed like this, suddenly the boost will drop about 10-15psi according to the factory gauge. The sound of the turbo changes as well. It will remain down for several seconds, then suddenly increase back to the max boost for several more seconds. This will repeat itself until you reach the top of the hill. The hill is a steady grade and pedal position is not changing. Never see black smoke when the boost drops as well, and the truck doesn’t even seem to loose power. If I hold the boost at say 25psi, it doesn’t do this. Is there any reason for this that anyone knows of? Truck is currently using the VXCF9 strategy. Turbo is new, MAP sensor hose is new. EBPS is new and tube clear. New inter cooler pipe boots. No exhaust leaks. No codes. Stock exhaust but does have EGR deleted. Not sure what else to look in to. Unfortunately I don’t have a scanner. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Pretty sure you’re going to need to get a decent scanner like FORScan where you can see live data. You did say you replaced the EBP and MAP sensors. Were these Motorcraft or a likable facsimile?
