What is that coming out of the ashtray. How did you get the radio in there? The wiper motor doesn't leave a lot of room.

That's a phone holder in the ashtray. My wife got it for her car and didn't like it, so I tried it out in the truck when I was checking the accuracy of my speedometer. I found that my phone gets hot as Hades on the way home from work with the sun in front of me, so I don't really use it anymore. Just haven't taken it out.

As for the radio, the space was already set up for me when I bought the truck. The door was already there and the hole was already cut. I just had to widen it out a bit and the radio fit right in. The wiper motor isn't an issue whatsoever.

Whoa! That door is cool!! The previous owner put that in? That cannot be stock. What a great idea. Id love to have that in my truck. Looks like a smaller glove box door.

I honestly have no idea where that came from. It was already set up when I bought the truck, so I ran with it!

I really like the radio access drop down door setup. Love to know how you did that. My dash was cut by the previous owner for a large radio from the 1980s but it never worked or looked good. I'm been trying to figure out a solution and what you have is excellent!

So… now I want a tan interior.

I decided to try something. It’s not “correct” by any stretch but it came out better than I thought. I painted the panels to match the seat, slapped on some auto parts store chrome door edge guard, and velcro’d the panels on.

You can see the black panel I started with on the seat.

I hate that the previous owner ruined the lower panels with speakers. So freakin 80’s. I’m changing those out soon.

That interior looks great! Can you post up any info on the seat cover? I’m going to be using a seat similar to yours from a 95 F150.

I don't know exactly what year truck my seat is out of but I used "1989 f150" as my reference I got the cover from seat covers unlimited. There are a lot of companies making seat covers for various older vehicles and seat covers unlimited was one of the only ones with a useable website. most of them you put in the year and pick "bench" and go. These year Ford trucks had a few different bench configurations. Look at the link I post below... you can see they give you several choices of bench seat shape. some have armrest, some don't. some have a dip down in the top of the seat in the middle, some don't. I went with leatherette quilted. so it's basically a vinyl seat but looks really good even in person. fit is about as good as you will get short of complete custom job paying the man. it's not like you can find a factory cover for these in anything other than 80's fabulous tweed in red or gray.

I cleaned up my seat and simply slipped this one on. it has velcro straps to wrap under to make it tight. I did have to remove the back from the base but I'm no good at this stuff and still managed to get it on and looking good.

word of advice is get the best seat you can to start with. I got mine for around $100 and while it it was absolutely filthy, the foam was great and had no rips.

I paid $335 for the cover, around 100 for the seat, and around 100 for the right tracks used. I'm into that seat total for around 500 I think. I could have gotten a budget pretty nice seat from LMC truck for 1000 but they don't have armrests. I was very hung up on getting the armrest. I'm glad i did. totally different driving experience from '66 seat to this one.... and my '66 seat had new foam and was recovered by a pro.

Seat covers unlimited

I really appreciate the detailed response. My seat has the armrest as well as small head rests. The foam is in great shape and no tears, but a terrible maroon color! I will search out that link. Thank you again!

mine had headrests which are currently residing in local landfill lol. they were seperate from the seat. these years the armrest seat also could be had on seats with molded headrests
