After realizing the upper door panel trim for my 66 isn’t being reproduced and seems to be made of unobtanium, I got tired of having no door panels. Also, Since buying a set of black plastic LMC panels, plans changed as well. I found a late 80’s seat that basically bolted in and a vendor who makes a nice tan slip on cover for it. So… now I want a tan interior.
I decided to try something. It’s not “correct” by any stretch but it came out better than I thought. I painted the panels to match the seat, slapped on some auto parts store chrome door edge guard, and velcro’d the panels on.
You can see the black panel I started with on the seat. I hate that the previous owner ruined the lower panels with speakers. So freakin 80’s. I’m changing those out soon.
Nice Job! Really hard to tell the difference at first or even second glance... Very cool.
thanks. And yes its sort of close. Factory stuff is wider. The door edge guard is only 1/4”.
I could not find flex chrome door edge guards in 3/4” thickness which would have been perfect
Looks good. But door handle should be pointing down. Are you going to do armrests?
that’s how they were pointed when I bought the truck last month lol Easy enough to change. I bought a pretty decent truck but man, nothing was done right! All stupid little things like trans kickdown linkage not even close to being adjusted, massive vacuum leak at carb base, etc. I took care of most of it already and it’s my favorite vehicle to drive now
Yes I also bought armrests- not really sure how I put them in. The inserts they sent don’t make sense to me. Haven’t looked into it that much.
I also have those in my possession. Those are going in next week. Those speakers are for a retro sound radio that’s doing some screwy stuff (randomly skips around when I Bluetooth Spotify to it) so that’s getting removed too. I’ll have to figure out something else for music.
In my '64 F100, I used a bluetooth speaker from Amazon for music for about 6 months, until it was stolen out of the truck when I left it unlocked overnight. I then put an aftermarket stereo in (I have a drop-down door in the center of my truck to hide the stereo behind) and used RetroSound surface mounted speakers. Sounds okay for what I need. I can post pics, if wanted.

Where did you get the color? The problem with up is when the passenger pushes forward in a corner and the door opens.
it’s a good thing I’m never the passenger then.
As for the color, it’s SmArnold leather, carpet, vinyl, and hard plastic refinisher 65-201 Beige.. got it on Amazon.
I was going with all black interior and had already bought the black visors, door pockets, and door panels. Then I found this seat cover in that beige color. Once I installed the cover, I decided I wanted a tan interior. This paint is excellent. Covers very well on vinyl and hard plastic.
The truck came with a TMI vinyl dash pad in black and that’s getting painted beige too. I also have a rod doors abs headliner that I’m going to try to have covered in this color perforated vinyl. If I can’t find vinyl that matches, you guessed it, it’s getting painted too
