VIN Decoder

I just purchased a 1958 Ford F800... I think. It's actually a firetruck. Looking for engine information. Found an eleven number VIN but haven't found a website to decode it.
Can anyone help me? VIN F82F8U19576

A '58--we had a '58 F600 on the farm.

F82 = F800, 25,000 lbs GVWR, 7,000 lb capacity front axle and hydraulic brakes

F = 332 4V Lincoln-derived Y block, 187 net HP @ 3600 RPM

8 = 1958 model year

U = Louisville Assembly Plant

19576 = Serial number

Any plans for it?

Parts for the Lincoln Y block are difficult to find. Be sure you specifiy repeatedly Lincoln derived truck Y.

Only the oil pump and distributor interchange with the smaller Ford version.

That said, the truck engines were quite robust, with sodium cooled valves and gear driven camshafts.
