I have a 2019 Ford F-150 and, being in central Florida, we've been getting a lot of rain lately. Yesterday, I noticed water dripping from the top center console. I looked at the windshield, I found that the seal at the top of my windshield is pushed in around the center, which seems to be letting water leak through. I do go through car washes, so I’m wondering if the pressure from those might have caused the seal to push in.
My question is: if I get the windshield replaced, will that seal be replaced too? Or can the seal be replaced without having to replace the whole windshield? Would using some silicone sealant on the area be a good fix?
I’d really appreciate any suggestions or advice. Thanks in advance!
The windsheild should really be sealed by the glue that holds it in place, not just the seal on the outside. I wouldn't think the car washes did it, but replacing it should fix the issue.
You definitely have an issue with the original windshield installation, most likely the adhesive is failing by losing its adhesion to the body. At this point its annoying but should be repaired ASAP. If still under warranty contact a dealer for their repair or contact a local auto/truck glass shop for their inspection and repair.
Thanks for the feedback. Went to a local glass shop and he came out looked at it and said "your windshield was replaced", I said I bought this truck bran new and never had it replaced. He said well it was. l went into my insurance app and sure enough it was replaced in 2019. Guess memory is the first thing to go with old age . Anyways, he said to go back to the glass company that replaced it, most have a lifetime warranty on the windshield. If they dont, I will put in another claim, as it is free to replace in Florida with full coverage insurance.
He also said what you both said. The seal doesnt have anything to do with it, it is the glue on the windshield.
So, going to get it replaced. Thanks again for the replies.
