Some thoughts on 2025 changes

Some things I’ve noticed about the 2025 changes:

- No more lariat on super cabs: sucks but they didn’t sell well so I can understand

- No more short bed with super cab: same as above. Sucks that there is nothing shorter than the 250” ccsb other than a regular cab for those that want it. I have a feeling super cab will be gone completely in a few years. Regular cab will only stay because it’s in demand for work trucks. They are already xl only in the f150 so that tracks.

- Synthetic instead of leather for lariat: this is crap. Best trim value and they do this.

- No integrated door keypad anymore, only cheap dealer installed one: I hate this. Was something I really liked about fords.

- No power adjusting steering for lariat: again, very dumb change

- Looks to me on the builder that the f450 fender flairs are now black plastic only, even on a platinum: this is ridiculous. It’s a $100k truck

- they remove the top of tailgate camera and parking sensors: this legit made me upset. This was an excellent addition and one of my favorite things added for the 23 redesign. No idea why this was removed.

- Platinum plus interior: to be honest, I hate the “truffle” interior colors. Hope it goes away as quick as possible.

- Standard platinum looks like a lariat to me: not a fan that the standard platinum now comes with the black out package, making it look the same as a lariat to me. Now must spend $6k more to have it actually look like a high end truck.

Not good moves in my opinion.

Every year, Ford works harder and harder to convince me to keep my current truck.

I literally just built a loaded 450 Platinum on the configurator to upgrade my current 450 Platinum and was shocked to see the black plastic flares. I mean it would be easy enough to paint match but that's beside the point. Guess i'll keep the '22

More unnecessary complexity, higher prices, less choices.

Ford's worked hard to convince me to keep my 18 year old Ford sedan with minimal gizmos and crap, and it is working.

I've not looked real close at the 2025 builds, especially since I just got my 2024, but you have some valid points about all trims you mentioned. I had a 2017 F-250 Platinum that was truly the cat's meow, even with the 6.2 engine. Now, my Lariat Ultimate has incandescent brake/turn lights in the rear, but I still have the keypad, power tilt, etc.

Seems every automaker is trimming here or there on noticeable things, but then say that you're getting so much more elsewhere. Maybe in your **** cavity from them...

I will say, the pre-2024 upper trim Chevrolet trucks had LED brake/turn lights, but incandescent bulbs in front. That was remedied in 2024 for upper trims. Upper GMC's were all LED on both ends. Tahoes, regardless of trim, still have incandescent brake/turns. Yukons? All LED, too. I've noticed many auto makers will do one or the other, even though you'd think it'd be simpler to do them all the same way. Something may have changed here or there, but that seems to be a popular way to do things for many automakers.

It does seem like they have cheaped out on a lot of things that will cost the consumer more money.

This was one thing I was shocked they removed. This and the keypad. I don’t have it on my 23, but it’s something I was hoping to piece together and add with FORScan if possible. Seems like a great feature and can’t understand why they would remove it after two MYs.

Want to make them change their ways?
Stop buying the trucks, buy used, keep your old one.
Might take a few years of down sales, but they will eventually be forced to change.
But, it only works if the majority of potential customers tow the line.
I'll do my part, have zero plans to buy another new Ford.
Good luck with getting everyone else to go along.

Does anyone remember if choosing the 6.8 option on XLTs on 24s gave one a price deduction? Perhaps the XLTs also just had a hidden increase of a few k making the 6.8 standard rather than the 7.3 while base MSRP still went up?

Ain't gonna happen ..... soft sales only result in discounts to spur sales on existing inventories. The "majority" of potential customers aren't on FTE, and when they get ready to buy a new truck, they visit their local dealer (go shopping) and make a deal. Thousands of dollars in discounts and rebates can be a pretty powerfull incentive to pursuade a buyer to accept the "new" Ford offering. And, if demand exceeds their production capabilities, forget the discounts.

Stop thinking you need the latest model. These trucks will last a long time! I loved my 2017 F250 but I wanted a 5th wheel so I needed a bigger truck. That being said, my 2017 XLT had the digital gauge cluster and driver and passenger power seats. My 2022 XLT came with an analog gauge cluster, manual recline drivers seat and manual passenger seat. Losing options isn't new. But I still like the XLT trim because all it was missing that I wanted was leather which is easy to fix and much cheaper than a Lariat.

Was this the std "backup" camera or an additional camera? Where did they put it?
