I am doing some work on the truck and noticed BOTH of the differential breathers were compromised (hole in hose from rubbing). Like most I rarely look at stuff like that because at a glance I see a hose and move on. The rear is nothing but a 45* vacuum connector (at the end) and the front is an open hose snaked into the LH frame. Mind you I've not had any type of moisture or water in the times I changed out the fluid, but I was not going to leave them as is.
Anyway for those that care I redid the breathers so the chance of water getting in there is next to zero.
Went to Lowes and bought two FNPT 3/8" to FNPT 1/4" iron pipe reducer and two NPT 1/4" to 5/16" barb and used 5/16" fuel line I had in my box of hose, along with #4 clamps.
