Today when I was replaceing the water pump on my 89 F250 4X4 351 EFI that blew out on my truck last night I ran into a problem with the bypass hose from the water pump to the water outlet. The water pump was a 5/8 fitting and the outlet was a 3/4" fitting. What I did was I took a piece of 5/8 hose and cut it to length. Then I boiled the hose in a pan on the stove (wife thinks I flipped my lid at this point) for a while and then took a Craftsman 9/16 deepwall socket put some dish soap on the end of it and shoved it in to the hose about an inch and a half or so. Then boiled it again for a while with the socket in it and Presto a bypass hose that fit both size fittings. Added bons it made a great hand warmer as it was 10 Deg. F. outside today and I was doing this in the driveway. One other thing make sure you clean up any peaces of hose that you may have left in the kitchen, I didn't and I had a verry chewey steak tonight.

 

I like that idea if it comes up I'll try it
