I have a 01 Ranger. I tried to get the fuel filter off but it's not the same as my old truck. Do I need a special tool? It seems like there are just clips holding it on but I don't want to break them.
That tool is very important, I tired chaning it without and it took me forever, until I finally gave up and just went to an autoparts place and got one. Thankfulley I did not damage anything.
Ford, of course, want a small fortune for it but anyplace like NAPA have it for <$15
well if it pulls out, you need to replace the internal clips. this is a real fire hazard and a real problem with fords. i have seen my share of fuel leaks from the bad clips. they are likely bad cause some one at one time or another used the incorrect size realese tool and bent the tabs. if anyone has a filter that will just pull off, repair it. is your truck worth $15 in clips???? kurt
