21 450 mirror cap delaminated recently after a truck wash. It may not be easy to see but it is right along the seam.
Thoughts on how to address it? New mirror cap? Paint it black to match lower?
Truck is a platinum trim for reference.
Ouch. Ford really cheapened the chrome process on these. If tiny rock strikes can cause this much damage so soon, what did Ford do to make it so thin? I am not that crazy about the chrome caps, I have the same on my 2019 Platinum, and though not as distracting at night as they were on the 12 F150 I had, they still can distract with light reflections, and prefer either body colored or plain black caps.
If it were me I would order replacement caps after calling Ford support and bitching up a storm over the cheap chrome job failing, get a discount on them, and have them painted to match the truck, in my case I would paint them myself.
