Interior leak and body control module

I have yet another leak on the passenger side interior (2019). My headlights started flickering while the truck was off and parked. When I went to investigate, every light in the truck was going haywire. I pulled the passenger side kick panel and found water on the BCM connectors. I got everything dried out and now it’s back to normal. I’m still looking for the leak. My question is should I put dielectic grease in the BCM connections?

You can use dielectric grease on any electrical connection.
Is the wetness pure water, or could it be coolant?
Would look for heater core leak, or the water drain being blocked on the HVAC plenum.

Thanks for that. It’s pure water after heavy rains. No sunroof.

Have you seen this thread? Had a similar leak on my truck and apparently several others had to. Checked this area and so far no more leak in that area. I’d check it and maybe pull the cowl/wiper trim and clean that area out as well if your truck sits outside. I believe this leak may be coming from the fresh air inlet which is on that side. If too much water builds up it can drain into the inlet.

I found the leak but haven’t fixed the leak. Water is coming in from the fresh air intake. The cabin filter is soaked. Water apparently is draining through an oblong oval hole in the cowl directly above the fresh air intake. If I tape over the hole, the leak seems to stop. I’m going to read up on how to remove the air box/blower motor.

I removed the ECM from the firewall and lookie there….a wide open fresh air intake. We have had monster rains here and I think the sheer volume of water in short time overwhelmed the drain allowing water to enter the intake. I don’t think there is any reason to take apart the interior any further. I will seal the oval hole in the cowl above the fresh air intake and put the truck back on the road and see what happens.

I think mine came in the same area. The fresh air intake was highly suspect due to the heavy rains I experienced. Also mine was sitting ant an angle low on that side and the crud was built up in the drainage area. I cleaned the apparent drain holes (in the thread I linked earlier) and mine has been ok since (on that side).
