On a stock height Does crossover steering conversion from push/pull require changing to a lifted front suspension or frame modifications, or is it ‘bolt-in’?
The truck is lifted and I custom made my parts by cutting up the steering parts I already had in this case 74 f100 hydraulic assist going knuckle to knuckle on the old on and on this one and 75 f250 hydraulic assist going knuckle to knuckle now going from the crossover on the 74 rod to the steering box with a few slight bends however I only drove it like three times before finding a Dana 60 for dirt cheap and putting it on that and redoing everything
So mostly bolt in if you have a lathe to make a bolt however you can probably find something that will fit

Well, I followed 73 crews advice and called WFO and they had the steering arm. I bought it for $150. I have since had my axle housing retubed, I bought original shock mounts and caliper brackets someone had on ebay The guy that retubed my housing removed 1990 Dom # and put the 1979 #. I got 100% all new spicer parts and cleaned and painted everything. Unfortunately thats as far as I’ve gotten. I’m in the process of getting a shop built so my Highboy is on the back burner. The dana 44 is a great axle for now. I’ll post when I do the upgrade but when that will be I dont know. Thanks for your interest
How much did it cost to have the tubing redone? I ask and came across this thread because I bought what I thought was the right thing but I didn't know what I was looking at and it was incorrectly advertised. I bought it a couple weeks ago but picked it up tonight and realized it when I got home. Wondering if it's worth the fight to try to get my money back or just try to build a clone of a 78/9
It cost me $600. I Removed both inner c’s and cleaned them up. then I shortened the passenger side tube. Then i took it to a 4wd shop and they removed drivers side tube and pressed and welded a longer tube then they pressed on the inner c’s and set them up and welded them back on. Then you have to buy new axle shafts. With everything i bought Im probably in it for 3k. Thats about what you would pay for an original condition snofighter but everything is brand new on mine

That's kind of what I'm thinking. I need to have different gears anyway, if I basically use my pumpkin and build new, I could probably have about the cost of just buying one that still needs to be gone through. I'll probably use original style steering but make my own arm if I can't find one
Did you make a 78/79 out of a later 80-90’s d60? Is the casting leaf spring angle the same?
