How to release EEC Test connector ?
I’d like to check for error codes on my ‘90 Econoline and it seems very easy to do but I’m afraid to brake this connector holder, how do you release the connector down there ? I tried to lever the red thing and pull it down but it won’t come
should I insist or is there a trick ?
The plastic gets brittle
Insert screwdriver into the red slot and hope for the best
Most likely the connector will be okay, but you will break the relay holder that also holds the VIP connector
Not the end of the world either way, just make sure the relays are under the cover mounted vertically
The self test connector can get wet, the relays not so much
Most of those VIP connectors are just laying there under the hood
Yours must have not had too much EEC trouble over the years
thank you both for your help on this, I really appreciate

reassured by your advice I had a closer look and I noticed a second clip on the other side of the holder
it was not easy to access (the holder is attached to the relay cover), I had to use a blade-shaped tool to maintain the hidden clip and the first one with my thumb while I pushed the connector down
, and it finally unlocked with no damage !
after that the grey single-cable connector was just inserted but with no clip
success !!
next step I'll go for a warm up when the weather will be better and do a KeyOnEngineOff test (luckily the INNOVA ODB code reader came with the van)
(sorry for my english if there are mistakes)
