need help pulling codes

Greetings to all. I have an 86 F150 L6 4.9L Carb. I am using the information from the fordfuelinjection web site. It seems pretty accurate, however, I can not find the self test input connector. I have found the red 6 pin EEC test connector. The only thing in the immediate area is a fuseable link, and a round type connector secured to the fenderwell. I think I need the self test input as it calls to connect it to ground before attempting to retrieve the codes. The web site shows a pretty good picture of the red connector, but still cannot see or find the single self test input. Anybody know where its at?? well thanks for any help
Joe

Are you useing a code reader to do this or just doing it manually with jumper wires?

The self test connector should be very close to the 6 pin connector. Most of the time it is within the group of wires for the 6 pin connector. If you are useing a code reader you have to connect the self test connector to the code reader also.

Dont have the code reader, I was going to use the jumper wire method. I will see the cost of a code reader today, if its not to much $$$ I will get it. I will check again for the self test connector. Thanks

Well I have looked again and everything seems to be plugged into something. Is the Self test connector hanging unplugged like the 6 pin lug or is it someplace I am overlooking??? I wish I knew how to post pictures, I could take one and post it here. Anyway I am still trying

It should be very close to the 6 pin connector.
