Hello all I having an issue trying to find someone that’s had the same problem when after driving and coming to a stop my idle sticks at 1100 rpm’s if I press on the pedal and let off quickly it drops back down to about 6-700 rpm’s I’m to to the 7.3s and not sure what I should be looking at to fix and may or may not be related I’ve popped fuse 44 and fuse 20 a few times the past two months
it sounds to me like your PCM is trying to go into high idle warm up. do you have forscan? (its free) get forscan for the laptop or pay for forscan lite for android you would need ot buy the OBD adpater for it but it allows you to data log the data streaming form the PCM. look you would need ot log the PIDs for anything to do with temp. I bet you find out that some of your temp sensors are dead or out of whack. if say your oil temp sensor thinks the oil is below 150f (could be more or less i forget) then it will hi idle. i also think the intake air temp has something to do with this along with the coolant temp sensor.
chances are its one of the three and nothing more.
matter of fact I know its warm up hi idle as when you push the accel it shuts off.
my advice go to the 99-03 7.3 section of this forum and have the mods move this question there where the people who are into the nuts and bolts hang out. a quick 5-10 minute data log with forscan will tell you exactly whats going on. this part of the forum is more of a generalized thing and encompasses all of the SD line from 99-2016
