So on friday afternoon i put in the 6637 filter and after the install is seems i no longer have a high idle it just idles at the regular rpm and never seems to raise. Its been -20 to -30 with the wind chill and it would be nice to have. Any ideas thanks.
How long do you wait? It can take up to 120 seconds for the gps to go off and the high idle won't come on till after they go off. I can't see how the kwik filter would affect the high idle.
It should come on with in 5 minutes. There is a sensor on the stock air box, i believe it is the intake air temp sensor or something. Maybe something happened to that and it's reading the wrong temp so high idle doesn't come on but i thought high idle was controlled by engine oil temp? Other than that i don't know.
Is the truck a auto or manual? You have to be in park on a auto and I think the E brake has to be on in a manual? Could the brake pedal be saging to a point of touching the sensor? Intake air temp also effects the HI-I. What did you do with the Intake air sensor?
I would say pull the codes and see if there is anything there. Water temp gauge working? Might need to check the oil temp sender too. There is really nothing a Tymar intake can do to make the hi-idle not work... Not a chance at them temps...
You can try and see if they pull any codes. Our trucks are obd complient but alot of the codes are manufacturer specific and the readers most parts stores have can't pull them. Stealerships, shops with snap on or similar code readers, most tuners for our trucks have the ability to pull codes or i bought autoenginuity so i could read my own codes and it has paid for itself. I guess i would try the parts store first since that will be the cheapest route and see what happens.
