Good morning guys, I'm swapping a bumpside dash into a dentside truck. I've done most of the hard stuff but I have a dilemma for those of you that have completed this quest. What heater box are you running to not only fit better but utilize the vent controls off of the bumpside and any AC kit you may be using? Please any help would be appreciated. I plan on posting all of my build once complete. started life as a 78 F350 crew cab single wheel now with racetrack trim, tool box bed and 12 valve/nv4500/252DHD, sterling 10.25 and dana 60 front. It now has bumpside/big truck dash/cluster, etc.
Since the F600s in the 70s used a Bumpside-style dash in a dentside cab, can you use heater box/controls from one of them? Personally I've never dug into one, just throwing that out there.
that's probably the best answer I could hope for. Any idea if these trucks ever had factory air? Have you guys ever seen a F750 with AC? I've never seen one personally. If so what does it look like? What firewall did they go with, etc..

They use a bump side firewall. Bump side interment panels changed over the years. Not sure what was first bump with AC was.

I'd suspect that your best option would be an aftermarket AC setup like Restomod Air or VintageAir, and either use the Restomod air vent retrofits in the dash or an under-dash vent panel layout to make it all work. Not sure if they offered AC as a factory option in a Bumpside, but I know there is no way I'd add a factory AC unit for a dentside to any non-AC truck. The box is massive and protrudes into the engine compartment, and would likely cause interference with your turbo/exhaust on the Cummins. The aftermarket systems are much more compact and will allow you to keep everything behind the dash. Restomod also offers a HVAC control panel that fits a bumpside truck and looks somewhat like it belongs, while converting the controls to electronic.
It looks like that may be a U-haul specific underdash AC unit, likely because Ford didn't offer factory air in an F600 back then. Looks like it has separate controls for the AC unit from the factory heater controls. Might be an option for you if you could find one, but remember that truck also uses a different firewall (and front cab mounts) than a F350 and smaller dentside cab. The vintage air or Retroair setups will allow you to combine heat and AC into a single unit behind the dash.
