I just made a deal with a guy on Craigslist for complete dash, vents, all ductwork, heater, A/C box, A/C compressor, heater control, instrument cluster and front fuel tank brackets (the idiot PO has the front tank held in with tie straps)...all for $30.00. Anyway, the question is, is there anything I need to know to remove the A/C box and dash? I have removed the dash on my '75 when I had it and if I recall it wasnt a real big deal. I have never had A/C so I have never removed the A/C box before. Can the dash come out before the A/C box and ductwork? It just seems that if the dash was out first, the rest would be easier to deal with. Also, is there anything else that I should take off this truck for the A/C which I will be putting on my truck this summer? Do I need the wiring harness for the A/C? My truck never had A/C. My truck is a 1979 F-250 XLT 4x4 with a 400 c.i. and a manual tranny. The truck I am getting the parts off of is a 1978 F-250 (not sure if it is 4x4 or not) Thanks...
Take the dash board out first, then the duct work and related wiring. Then take the box out from under the hood. There's nothing really special you need to know, but I would advise you to take a piece of card board. Use it to trace out the big hole on the fire wall. It will make your life much easier when it comes time to cut your fire wall.

Thanks docholiday...I didnt even think about the fact that the hole through the firewall has to be very different! Good idea with the cardboard to make a template. Thanks.
