Today I brought my 94 rear wheel f 150 to have it aligned because of a left pull.
They told me that the ball joints need replacing which I can do since I have the press.
They also said that I need a left spindle which makes me wonder, just what could go wrong with a spindle, the rotors and bearings are new and when I replaced them last week I did not see anything, The truck was never driven off road or wrecked.
I am going to pick the truck this morning and will hold their feet to the fire about that. I have no problem with the ball joints since I have a Snap on ball joint press but this spindle problem sounds like BS to me.
When i dropped the truck off I told then that I am a retired mechanic. Maybe the word was not passed on to the “technician”.
Maybe they think they will destroy the spindle when removing it to replace the ball joints?
Without the special puller tool, the dpindles are damn hard to remove
This is the tool, you should show them
You could have checked (and replaced) your ball joints before going to the alignment shop
Then they would have no reason to mention anything about a spindle if everything was tight during their pre alignment inspection

How do you pull the spindle off the knuckle when it is cast as one piece?
Hey thanks for the reply. It turned out the chick that answers the phone mis interpreted the estimate. After talking to the mechanic/owner he gave me the part # for the correct camber adjusters from NAPA. I am going to replace the joints this morning. The local O’Reilly warehouse division guy always cuts me better prices than normal.
